Job Title: Theatre Arts Instructor (Choreography)             Type: Full Time
Reports to: Executive Director                                              Hire Date: September 2021

Job Summary:

OFC Creations is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative individual with a passion for inspiring the next generation of musical theatre performers. The Theatre Arts Instructor will be a full-time staff member joining the OFC team in September of 2021. The individual will be responsible for leading and instructing drama programs for all age categories (ages 4-18, adults), specifically with a focus in choreographing shows, teaching dance classes, and directing productions.


General Responsibilities:

  • Choreographing and/or directing assigned theatre productions, musicals, straight plays, special events, fundraisers.

  • Teaching dance classes and private lessons in dance and acting

  • Overseeing the elements of an assigned production from beginning to end.

  • Bringing about a unified vision within the finished product of said show or event.

  • Leading and collaborating with a team of fellow artists and designers.

  • Training students and campers ages 4 to 18 in the performing arts.

  • Tracking student performance and growth; and storing records confidentially.

  • Teaching private lessons in dance and/or acting.

  • Assisting in other capacities behind the scenes (front of house, backstage and/or in the office) and additional activities including community events, adult productions, and touring performances.

  • Communicating with families on student success and areas for improvement.

  • Joining office and partnership meetings, maintaining dedicated time for communication and office work assignments, and maintaining a clean and professional work area.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of choreography/dance

    • Priority will be given to those with additional skills in directing theatre productions

  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong ability to work with the needs of younger students as well as the skill set to train teenagers

  • Ability to take initiative while solving problems.

  • Ability to be a team player while working with colleagues.

  • Ability to train, inspire, and lead children of all ages and abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.

  • Proficient in acting, singing, or dance but familiar experience in all three.


Job Schedule and Location:

  • 40 hours per week

  • School year hours: Weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends

  • Summer: Weekday mornings/afternoons, Friday evenings, and Saturdays

  • Most job activity will take place at the OFC Creations Theatre Center, however some job activity and programs may take place at other locations

  • This job does not typically allow for working from home

  • This is not a 9AM-5PM job and requires a flexible work schedule but should not exceed 40 hours per week.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Excessive experience in dance, and 3+ years’ experience in choreography and/or working with youth

  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

  • Background check and drug test completed before job offer finalized.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US and be available to start work by September 5, or earlier

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting annual salary $35,000-$40,000, commensurate with experience and skills.

  • Potential relocation stipend available for out of town applicants
