Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages around the world.

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda is a joyous girl power romp. Performers and audiences alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
Please note: If you have conflicts with a performance time, please contact us prior to signing up. It is possible to work around a conflict due to graduation, wedding, or other major commitment if known in advance of signing up. Students enrolled in Annie KIDS are allowed to participate in both.
If your child falls between multiple age, please sign up for the one that your child is most interested in. Please do not sign up more than once.

Acting Through Song Workshop
Open to ages 7-13

Instructor: Kathy Costa
$30 per student
at the OFC Creations Theatre Center (3450 Winton Place)

Students should choose to sing one of the following song excerpts: Middle of a Moment from James and the Giant Peach or Quiet from Matilda. Memorized would be best, but not required. They should bring three things: a notebook, the lyrics (if needed) and a pencil.
Take your performance to the next level! In this new workshop, young actors will explore the essential skill of acting while singing. Through interactive exercises and guided coaching, students will learn how to connect emotionally to their song, bring out the story in the lyrics, and make bold character-driven choices on stage. We know acting is important and we know singing is important – how do we put them together? What facial expressions, body movement, and bold choices will help bring the character to life and tell the best story?
Whether preparing for auditions, building confidence, or simply wanting to grow as a performer, this workshop with Miss Kathy will give students the tools to combine strong vocals with authentic acting. Perfect for all levels and is a great way to sharpen performance skills in a fun, supportive environment. Students may participate in the workshop more than once and gain new skills and insight into the performing arts.
