OFC Creations Presents

Sinatra at the Sands Reprise

Live in person performances on Saturday, April 15 at 7:30PM at the OFC Creations Theatre Center Main Stage; Appropriate for all ages

The show, Sinatra at the Sands Reprise, recreates Frank’s 1966 show at the Sands in Las Vegas featuring Frank Torchio’s rendering of the Chairman and The Russell Scarbrough Orchestra swinging like the Count.  The Reprise Show includes many definitive readings of the songs that are most closely identified with Frank Sinatra, like Come Fly With Me, Lady is a Tramp, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, and Luck be a Lady, as well as comedy and impressions.  The show also includes singing and comedic impressions of Frank’s show business contemporaries.

Frank Torchio has been performing for over four decades – as a vocal impersonator and comic impressionist. In the 1980s he performed at comedy clubs in Manhattan, such as, The Comic Strip and The Improv. In 1995, Frank won first place as Rochester’s Funniest Bigshot at Rochester’s Geva Theatre‘s fundraiser, Stand Up for Geva. In 2003, Frank began singing with Nik Entertainment’s Rochester Rat Pack and shortly thereafter, he formed Frank’s Rat Pack.

“You’ll never get a chance to see Frank Sinatra perform in concert, but some people say that Frank Torchio is the next best thing. I encourage you to make the effort to come and enjoy this fine event. You won’t be sorry!"     David Dunn – Executive Director, The Howard Stowe Roberts Cultural Life Center @ Roberts Wesleyan College

Songs from My Closet & Heart: Cabaret with Roy Wise

Live in person performances on Friday, July 14 at 7:30PM; Saturday, July 15 at 7:30PM; and Sunday, July 16 at 3PM  at OFC’s The Old Farm Café (3450 Winton Place, next door to the theatre); Appropriate for ages 13 & up; Doors will open 1hr prior to showtime for audience seating and food/beverage purchases

Growing up in a time and place where anyone gay, assumed gay, or exhibiting any characteristics of the opposite gender was subject to bullying, name-calling, and even physical abuse drove many people deep into the closet.  Roy learned early on that even something as innocent as singing a song could make him the target of gay bashing and ongoing harassment. Comments such as “that’s a girl’s song you sissy”, or  “boys can’t sing that - you wanna be a girl?” were common and often accompanied by some sort of physical threat.  Resulting in Roy singing such songs only when alone and in private. Otherwise, he locked them away deep in his closet, along with his developing sexuality.

But times have changed and in this new cabaret Roy swings that song closet door wide open and performs songs from the leading ladies of Broadway, and classic pop. Featuring special appearances by local performers Ron Herman, Will Ruiz, and Amy Mitchell, Songs from My Closet & Heart Is a gender-bent and binary-breaking evening filled with songs and personal antidotes drawn from Roy’s life. Join Roy and his guests as they sing songs from the 1960s – 1980s pop charts and Broadway’s Song & Dance, Jekyll & Hyde, Godspell, Mame, Chess, and Gypsy - plus many others.

Sweet Charity explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic but comically unfortunate dance hall hostess in New York City. With a tuneful, groovy, mid-1960s score, a hilarious book by Neil Simon, and big Bob Fosse production numbers, Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak of Life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist.

Sweet Charity features iconic musical numbers including “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “I’m a Brass Band,” “Baby, Dream Your Dream,” and so many more. In this exuberant, groovy, hilarious musical comedy, Charity tries again and again to find her dream and make something of herself.

Under the direction of Terri Filips Vaughan, featuring a cast of adult performers.
