On September 22, 2019, the Rochester theatre community learned of the tragic loss of one of the brightest lights, Billy DeMetsenaere. Billy's warmth and excitement regarding every show he was in and every person he met was palpable. He gave so incredibly much, often staying late or pulling all-nighters to help make the shows he worked on a success.
In honor and recognition of this incredible actor and his family, OFC Creations is raising funds to renovate and dedicate, in perpetuity, a newly created green room within the OFC Creations Theatre Center. Find out full details and support the cause through the link below.
The OFC Creations Theatre Center will open summer 2020 with a full summer series. The first show in the new theatre will be the hit Broadway musical, A Chorus Line, on stage from July 10-19, 2020.
The show will be directed by Judith Ranaletta who is best known as the former longtime Artistic and Vocal Director for Greece Athena High School, and now is the director and founder of the ROC City Singers and Arts Program Director for the Century Club of Rochester. A Chorus Line will feature a cast of professional adult actors including Kyle Critelli, Mandi Griffith-Gurell, Brian Tan, Hunter Ekberg, Lexi Gleichauf, and many more.
“Rochester’s newest treasure [the OFC Creations Theatre Center], is a perfect venue for directors, actors, and patrons. For so long, Rochester has needed an accessible and affordable theatre of this size for the arts,” says Ranaletta.
Additional summer series events include, A Midsummer Night’s Drag, July 24-August 2; Frank’s Rat Pack, August 7-8; Remembering Elvis Concert, August 15-16; Charlotte’s Web, August 22-30, and the Joan Rivers Tribute Show, October 2. Tickets are now on sale for all events by clicking below.
Since 2005, OFC Creations has offered a palette of opportunities for theatergoers, performers, and students — and has continued expanding programs to meet student and audience demand. Under the leadership of Executive Director, Eric Vaughn Johnson, OFC Creations was founded to give adults and students an opportunity to push their creative limits.
“This new center is exactly what our students, artists, and audiences need right now,” says Johnson. “The theatre center is ideal for expanding our already growing programming and allows for us to connect and partner with many more community arts organizations.”
Johnson will be bringing Hunter Ekberg to OFC Creations as the full-time Operations Manager. Ekberg has been seen on stage in numerous OFC productions as well as behind the scenes directing youth and teen productions and summer camps. Ekberg is also the director of Hands-In Entertainment, a local non-profit focused on event and performance interpreting for the deaf and hard of hearing. Ekberg will be coordinating rentals of the new space, for rental inquires please email: Hunter@OFCCreations.com
OFC has formerly performed at the Kodak Center, Nazareth College, the East End Theatre, and, most recently, in residence at the Lyric Theatre. OFC’s current programs and OFC’s summer camps will remain at the previously announced locations unless otherwise noted.
Stay tuned. We look forward to seeing you at the new OFC Creations Theatre Center!
