Thinking about performing after high school? So many directions to go -- college musical theatre programs, straight music performance programs, just theatre, a minor in theatre, or go straight for the Big Apple! It can be a bit overwhelming for high school students (and their families). Over five weeks our instructors will deep dive into being a triple threat and how to prepare professionally for pre-screen audition videos, in person auditions, and interviews. Make that stellar first impression for the team behind the table! By using material from your favorite shows like Dear Evan Hansen,  Jagged Little Pill, and more we will focus on how to improve singing, acting, and dancing skills as we explore material that is currently in demand professionally, without forgetting the classics.

Week one will be a breakdown of the basics, focusing on terminology, headshots and resume, and the easy things we can easily forget that could make or break an audition. Weeks two through four will be dedicated to perfecting vocals, acting, and dance. Week five will be our Mock Audition Masterclass where students will get to perform everything that they have learned for a panel of guest directors.

Safety precautions will be followed as outlined in our Fun & Safety Plan, this program will be limited to 15 participants.

Defying Gravity... Experiencing "Wicked"

In person evening program meeting once per week!

Open to ages 7-12
April 7-June 6, 2021
Wednesdays 6PM-7:30PM
Performance Sunday, June 6 at 11:30AM at the OFC Creations Theatre Center

Instructor: Emily Beseau
Tuition: $200

Dance through life with OFC Creations and Emily Beseau as we defy gravity as we explore and learn about one of the most popular musicals of all time: Wicked! Students will learn songs, dances and acting challenges from the hit Broadway musical “Wicked.” Most importantly, the class will explore the storytelling techniques and the differences between Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and other spin offs.

The story of Wicked is told from the perspective of the witches of the Land of Oz; its plot begins before and continues after Dorothy Gale arrives in Oz from Kansas, and includes several references to the 1939 film and Baum's novel. Wicked tells the story of two unlikely friends, Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Galinda (the Good Witch), who struggle through opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, reactions to the Wizard's corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphaba's private fall from grace.

The class will conclude with a showcase for parents, featuring group songs, dances, and scenes from “Wicked,” and each student will have a solo piece. Students do not need to audition for the program.

Safety precautions will be followed as outlined in our Fun & Safety Plan. Once you register, you are automatically in the program.

Student Cabaret Night was a huge hit this winter when we premiered and workshopped the idea with a select group of students. We are now expanding the program to run a Student Cabaret Night each season (every 3 months). Students may apply to be a part of the Cabaret by the link below; please note, not all students who apply/audition will be selected to take part in this cabaret. There is no cost to participate, but there will be a cost for tickets for parents, friends, and family to attend the performance. At this time, we are hoping for an in-person performance, however a virtually streamed show may need to take place based on the NYS covid situation. All rehearsals will take place in person.

We are looking for students who are self-motivated and have performed in the past and are "Bound for Broadway!" We encourage all ages to apply (as young as 7 to 18). Please note we can only accept 15 students with hoping the performance to be in person. Safety procedures will be followed as outlined in our Health and Safety Plan.
